Ahh Christmas is nigh!

Can you smell it? Can you hear it? It’s Christmas again! The occasion of giving and sharing. A time of merry eating and drinking BUT it is also to celebrate the Birth of our Lord. Christmas Carols, Turkey, Ham, Snow and one of the most precious: Christmas Presents. Most precious but not the most important. The most important is prayer and thanksgiving to  the Lord that we are allowed to celebrate Christmas safely rather than in places such as the Middle East.

In my family where cooking is our family prowess, the Chef of our family, my brother will be preparing christmas dinner for the maternal side of our family. Roasted Turkey, Ham, Lamb, Beef. All these delicious tender meats, though cooked by human hands, and all the herbs are gifts from God. He gave them to us, his children.

Genesis 1:29-30—-> And God said: “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant upon the earth, and all of the trees that have in themselves the ability to sow their own kind, to be food for you, and for all the animals of the land, and for all of the flying things of the air, and for everything that moves upon the earth and in which there is a living soul, so that they may have these on which to feed.” and so it became.

It’s quite funny that most of us, even Christians, forget or do not say grace before our meals when at a party or in the presence of others. The bird comes from the Lord, the pepper which was ground comes from the plants, the salt which are crystallized come from the sea; in fact,  everything you eat and even the dining tables, though made by humans, are from raw materials that come from God.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, do not let the devil break you. We may be happy and joyful when the devil comes to destroy. At moments like these, all of us will be prone to his attack due to our human sense of pride. Without God, there will be no food, no materials for the tables and chairs or even the houses or restaurants where you are eating. Remember that. Even if there is a God, thank him that we are fortunate and safe to celebrate Christmas without a bomb abruptly exploding in the middle of the celebration as it happens in Islamic countries. Lord, we thank you for all these gifts. Thank you for everything. Amen.

Merry Christmas Everybody!!
