Accept God’s Word, live it and share it
In our present time, the majority of people do not view morality and ethical behaviour in the light of having to meet the requirements of being holy, true, just, virtuous and faithful at the same time. They view life and existence in shades of grey, due to relativism. This lack of moral compass results in growing immorality and vices. The reason for this is that many people have turned their backs on God; they no longer seek the Lord, and it is a fact that many have forgotten what sin is. This began when people first ignored the reality that the greatest threat to humanity is the devil and the demons; by forgetting the existence of evil and sin, they doubted the existence of God and the holy angels and of life after death. In spite of all this, God still loves us and wants humanity to be saved by accepting the power of the cross and resurrection of His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ the Word of God Incarnate. For all creation was made by God because He is love, as seen in the Divine Nature of God, the Holy Trinity, One God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
To have an effective change of the present state in humanity, people of Faith need to turn to the Lord, to pray and believe as we read the Word of God, to offer penance in communion with the Lord as a redemptive suffering to aid all humanity to come back to the Lord, for there is only one God who is Lord of all creation. We need to live our faith authentically as the early community at Thessalonica, which St. Paul and St. Timothy and companions rejoiced at the community’s Faith,
1 Thessalonians 2:13 “Another reason why we continually thank God for you is that as soon as you heard the word that we brought you as God’s message, you welcomed it for what it really is, not the word of any human being, but God’s word, a power that is working among you believers.”
Let us allow the Word of God to guide us,
Psalm 118(119):105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Let us be transformed by the Word of God,
Hebrews 4:12 “The word of God is something alive and active: it cuts more incisively than any two-edged sword: it can seek out the place where soul is divided from spirit, or joints from marrow; it can pass judgement on secret emotions and thoughts.”
When we are in a living and active relationship with the Lord, we will be ready to live our Faith fully in both personal and communal aspects, and as members of the Church, we can serve people in ministry, at work and in all fields of study and social services, and share the love of God and the joy of the Gospel with others, so they may experience the presence of the Lord. We need to share our Faith when the time comes for it, for the Lord commissions us in
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And look, I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.'”
Remember dear brethren, there will be many obstacles and trials we need to face, even insults and persecution, as the Lord tells us in
John 15:20 “Remember the words I said to you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you too; if they kept my word, they will keep yours as well.”
Let us take courage, as St. Peter under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit tells us in
1 Peter 4:14 “If you are insulted for bearing Christ’s name, blessed are you, for on you rests the Spirit of God, the Spirit of glory.”
May the Lord bless us and keep us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.
