Jonah 3:1 – 10 “The word of Yahweh was addressed to Jonah a second time. ‘Up!’ he said, ‘Go to Nineveh, the great city, and preach to it as I shall tell you.’ Jonah set out and went to Nineveh in obedience to the word of Yahweh. Now Nineveh was a city great beyond compare; to cross it took three days. Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city and then proclaimed, ‘Only forty days more and Nineveh will be overthrown.’ And the people of Nineveh believed in God; they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least. When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his robe, put on sackcloth and sat down in ashes. He then had it proclaimed throughout Nineveh, by decree of the king and his nobles, as follows: ‘No person or animal, herd or flock, may eat anything; they may not graze, they may not drink any water. All must put on sackcloth and call on God with all their might; and let everyone renounce his evil ways and violent behaviour. Who knows? Perhaps God will change his mind and relent and renounce his burning wrath, so that we shall not perish.’ God saw their efforts to renounce their evil ways. And God relented about the disaster which he had threatened to bring on them, and did not bring it.”
Dearest beloved Lord Jesus Christ, Abba Father God, and Holy Spirit, thank You for granting me the grace to witness and to testify to Your love and to Your Word during the recent years of my life. Lord, I’m grateful for Your graces and gifts that help me to repent of my old sinful habits and ways and to live in Your love and mercy, to be more loving and merciful to the brethren, my family, my friends and to neighbours.
Psalm 129(130):1 – 8 “From the depths I call to you, Yahweh: Lord, hear my cry. Listen attentively to the sound of my pleading! If you kept a record of our sins, Lord, who could stand their ground? But with you is forgiveness, that you may be revered. I rely, my whole being relies, Yahweh, on your promise. My whole being hopes in the Lord, more than watchmen for daybreak; more than watchmen for daybreak let Israel hope in Yahweh. For with Yahweh is faithful love, with him generous ransom; and he will ransom Israel from all its sins.”
Lord Jesus Christ, Abba Father God, and Holy Spirit, thank You for cleansing me time and time again from my sins, and granting me the grace to grow in being a loving person, kinder, and gentler and a person of peace.
Lord Jesus, thank You for ransoming me, and for having all humanity in mind, as You continually save us from death and sin, through the Power of Your Death on the Cross and Your Resurrection to grant us Eternal Life. Thank You for revealing the great love of God the Father and for giving us the Holy Spirit.
John 15:15 “ I shall no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know the master’s business; I call you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have learnt from my Father.”
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, Abba Father God, and Holy Spirit, thank You for calling us the Church throughout the world to be Your friends once again, as You called the Patriarchs and the Prophets to be Your friends in the time of the Old Covenant. Now You call forth by grace all the peoples from every tongue, tribe, race and nationality to believe in You, to be Your friends and children.
Luke 11:28 “But he replied, ‘More blessed still are those who hear the word of God and keep it!’”
Lord Jesus Christ, Abba Father God, and Holy Spirit, You reveal to us the blessings for spending time to listen to Your Word. For truly we grow in our relationship with You through prayerful reading of the Scriptures with meditation and reflection. Just as the Scriptures are read and prayed often every Mass and also at every hour during the Divine Office (Liturgy of the Hours). Lord, help us to listen attentively to Your Word and to keep it.
Luke 10:38 – 42 “In the course of their journey he came to a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. She had a sister called Mary, who sat down at the Lord’s feet and listened to him speaking. Now Martha, who was distracted with all the serving, came to him and said, ‘Lord, do you not care that my sister is leaving me to do the serving all by myself? Please tell her to help me.’ But the Lord answered, ‘Martha, Martha,’ he said, ‘you worry and fret about so many things, and yet few are needed, indeed only one. It is Mary who has chosen the better part, and it is not to be taken from her.’”
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, Abba Father God, and Holy Spirit, please help us to remember to choose the better part which is to be attentive to You, O Lord.
Lord, bless the Church spread throughout the world, and grant us unity together with Pope Francis and all Bishops, Priests and Deacons, and all Religious brothers and sisters, and all Lay people.
