This week due to the limited amount of time that I have as everything piles up, I will write a poem instead which will be a prayerful reflection of the gospel. My school workload has increased but in this stressful period, I must still continue to trust in Jesus!
Many times, we are given blessings
Blessings that amount to gifts, talents and treasures
But are we grateful for them?
Do we use them to give more than to receive?
Yes, we do keep the commandments
To honour our father and mother
For their sacrifices and pains in bringing us up
In the journey towards eternal life!
However, something is lacking, which is to give and let go
Because letting go is not a sign of weakness
It is a sign of putting others first and helping those in need
In need of our charity and generosity
Are we ready to forsake our material wealth
To follow Jesus?
Yes, for nothing can compare to the treasure and banquet that Jesus has prepared
The treasure in heaven!
Which money nor possessions can buy
Though it might seem like a struggle or seemingly impossible request
To enter the Kingdom of God
We must not lose hope as Jesus promised us
All things are possible for God
For we have to continue to carry out the works of God
With humility and love
For all can be saved, with sincerity in our hearts
For blessed are the poor in spirit
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven!
It is important to be grateful and humbled
by the graces and blessings that Jesus has given us.
Material wealth and possessions are distractions
that distract us from the will of God
and to find the treasure of heaven which we seek.
In the gospel, Jesus says,
“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God”(Mark 10:17-30).
Therefore, we should not let the riches blind us
from the true reward which only Jesus can give.
For when our earthly journey is over,
it is by the grace and blessings of God
that we are saved from sin and carried into the kingdom of heaven.
That is where we begin our new life in joyful celebration with Jesus.
May we continue to follow Jesus
and to always know that his grace is
sufficient and enough for us.
Keep the faith and press on!
