22nd December 2015 O come, Desire of Nations. Come Lord Jesus!

Isaiah 9:5 “For a son has been born for us, a son has been given to us, and dominion has been laid on his shoulders; and this is the name he has been given, ‘Wonder-Counsellor, Mighty-God, Eternal-Father, Prince-of-Peace’”

Isaiah 2:4 “Then he will judge between the nations and arbitrate between many peoples. They will hammer their swords into ploughshares and their spears into sickles. Nation will not lift sword against nation, no longer will they learn how to make war.”

Psalm 116(117):1 – 2 “Alleluia! Praise Yahweh, all nations, extol him, all peoples, for his faithful love is strong and his constancy never-ending.”

Luke 2:29 – 32 “Now, Master, you are letting your servant go in peace as you promised; for my eyes have seen the salvation which you have made ready in the sight of the nations; a light of revelation for the gentiles and glory for your people Israel.”

Ephesians 2:11 – 20 “Do not forget, then, that there was a time when you who were gentiles by physical descent, termed the uncircumcised by those who speak of themselves as the circumcised by reason of a physical operation, do not forget, I say, that you were at that time separate from Christ and excluded from membership of Israel, aliens with no part in the covenants of the Promise, limited to this world, without hope and without God. But now in Christ Jesus, you that used to be so far off have been brought close, by the blood of Christ. For he is the peace between us, and has made the two into one entity and broken down the barrier which used to keep them apart, by destroying in his own person the hostility, that is, the Law of commandments with its decrees. His purpose in this was, by restoring peace, to create a single New Man out of the two of them, and through the cross, to reconcile them both to God in one Body; in his own person he killed the hostility. He came to bring the good news of peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. Through him, then, we both in the one Spirit have free access to the Father. So you are no longer aliens or foreign visitors; you are fellow-citizens with the holy people of God and part of God’s household. You are built upon the foundations of the apostles and prophets, and Christ Jesus himself is the cornerstone.”

Dear brethren and friends, our Lord Jesus Christ was sent by God the Father to restore the peace and unity which humanity was meant to have, but was lost due to Original Sin. God constantly sent us the Prophets, as He befriended the Patriarchs, to prepare the way for till the time was ripe for His Son Jesus Christ to be Incarnated, and after the Resurrection and Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ back to God the Father, He commissioned the Apostles and disciples to spread the Gospel that we are redeemed by the grace of God made visible in His Son Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit. For our Lord Jesus Christ built the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church upon the foundations of the Apostles and Prophets, with Christ Himself as the cornerstone.

O come, Desire of nations, bind

In one the hearts of all mankind;

Bid now our sad divisions cease,

And be yourself our King of Peace.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to you, O Israel!
